Is Dr. Boehm board certified?

Board certification means that a physician has met the highest standards to provide safe and effective care in their particular field of medicine. It is a credential patients can rely on to ensure their physician has obtained the necessary skills and expertise in their specialty. Dr. Boehm is double board certified in both general surgery and plastic surgery. After finishing her residencies in general surgery and plastic surgery, she completed an additional fellowship in Aesthetics and Oculoplastic Surgery.  As is required by the surgical boards, Dr. Boehm annually completes the necessary requirements for continuous certification.

Where are procedures performed?

Non-surgical treatments done under topical or local anesthesia are performed in-office. Surgical procedures necessitating general anesthesia are performed in an accredited surgical facility to ensure the highest standards of safety.

What type of anesthesia will be used?

Accepted Answer

The type of anesthesia is largely dependent on the procedure being performed. Topical anesthesia is applied to the skin and is useful for in office injectable procedures such as dermal fillers. Local anesthesia numbs a specific site and is often used for skin lesion excisions and earlobe repairs.  Oral and IV sedation combine local anesthesia with pain relievers or intravenous sedatives to deliver what is sometimes referred to as "twilight anesthesia" and often used for upper eyelid surgery and liposuction. General anesthesia uses a combination of inhalational and intravenous medications to render a patient unconscious for more invasive procedures such as a tummy tuck, breast reduction or breast augmentation.Your anesthesia plan will be discussed in detail during your consultation and pre-operative appointment.

Will plastic surgery make me look unnatural?

The goal of plastic surgery is not to alter your look but to enhance your natural features. This means refining and restoring what is already uniquely you. Dr. Boehm’s mantra is that the best plastic surgery work goes unnoticed. Both surgery and in office injectable treatments, when done with proper techniques and placement, do not have to create an exaggerated or artificial appearance.The goal is to look refreshed, not operated on.

Will I have a follow-up schedule after surgery?

Yes. Post-operative follow-up appointments are scheduled to monitor your healing and results, with the first visit typically within the first week after surgery and additional visits over the following months.

Will plastic surgery leave scars?

Any procedure requiring an incision through the skin will result in a scar; there is no such thing as scar-less surgery. Scarring is the body’s natural response to a skin injury. The goal of plastic surgery is to make those scars as inconspicuous as possible. This is achieved through meticulous surgical technique, strategic scar placement, and recommended post operative remedies.
